There are several forms of TRT available, including:
Injectable testosterone: This is the most common form of TRT. Testosterone injections are usually given every two to four weeks. Pros include a relatively low cost and the fact that injections can be administered at home. Cons include the potential for pain or discomfort at the injection site and the need for regular injections. At Sparta TRT, we use injectable testosterone cypionate. It is a well-tolerated injectable testosterone and can be easily administered and adjusted to optimize results.
Transdermal testosterone: This form of TRT involves applying a patch or gel containing testosterone to the skin. Pros include the convenience of application and the ability to maintain steady testosterone levels throughout the day. Cons include the risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions and the potential for the transfer of testosterone to others through skin-to-skin contact. This form of testosterone replacement has been used less and less as new, better forms of TRT have been introduced. Sparta TRT does not use this type of TRT as a general rule and will consider this method on a client-by-client basis.
Pellet testosterone: This form of TRT involves inserting small pellets containing testosterone under the skin. Pros include the convenience of long-lasting effects (up to six months) and the fact that the pellets can be inserted during a brief office visit. Cons include the potential for infection at the insertion site and the need for regular follow-up visits. Sparta TRT has recently partnered with EvexiPEL. They are a US pharmaceutical company with patented proprietary manufacturing and placement techniques for testosterone pellets. We are so excited to be able to offer these pellets for those clients that wish long-term testosterone benefits without injections. More information to come. Please check out our website for more details as the come available.
It is important to note that TRT should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider, as there are potential risks associated with its use.
